Checklist for K-1 Fiancé Visa Petition

□  Form I-129F

□  Form G-325A (one filled out by Hayley and one by Nathan)

□  A color photo of Hayley (passport style*)

□  A color photo of Nathan (passport style*)

□  Fee (currently $170; double check at www.uscis.gov)

□  Proof of the U.S. citizenship for Hayley (copies of every page of your passport including the student permit)

□  A statement written by Hayley describing how you met

□  Proof that the two of you have met within the last two years**

□  Additional proof that the two of you truly intend to marry***

Information in italics are my comments, the rest is from the book.

*Passport style photos - You must submit identical passport photos, 2 X 2 inches in size, taken within the past six months, showing your current appearance. They can be in color or black and white. Passport style means that the photo shows your full face from the front, with a plain white or off-white background and your face must measure between 1" and 1 3/8" from the bottom of your chin to the top of your head. **Proof of meeting in last two years - Look for documents that will illustrate your meetings. Documents from a neutral, outside source such as an airline or landlord are best. Some possibilities are:

• dated photos of you together (write the date of the photo and where you were on the back) - Do you have the photo of you with all of your cousins at Seth's house? I will send you what I find AND you can find lots of photos in yukitopia (open it in FrontPage since they aren't all out on the Internet)
• copies of plane tickets (including boarding passes) that you used - Do you have the plane tickets from when you both flew to Minneapolis in August?
• credit card receipts showing that you spent money at the same time and place.
• And of course you know about your transcripts, lease, utility bills, etc.

***Additional proof that you intend to marry - You will need to show that you intend to marry. Some possible documents to gather are:

• copies of cards and letter between you discussing your marriage plans (it's okay to block out intimate sections)
• evidence of other wedding arrangements - I guess you can just make a statement as to how you see your wedding taking place. For example: you intend to get married in your parent's (or Seth's) backyard or at a park with a justice of peace. Or something to the effect that you just want a small family gathering, etc. I don't know but I have to think that some couples don't want to sign a lot of contracts with florists and venues and caterers without having the visa in hand. (You guys might also want to look at wedding bands and get something now - since you'll probably want to have wedding rings. Then you would have a receipt for those at least. - You could find out if you can return them if you don't want to actually decide on the final rings right now, they aren't really that costly anyway - for example: http://www.wedding-band-ring.com/ -No pressure though, just an idea.)
